Stampede Close Out October with Final Homestand Before Month-Long Road Stretch

Sioux Falls, S.D. — This Saturday and Sunday, the Sioux Falls Stampede will host their final homestand until November 26.

For Saturday's Military Appreciation Night, presented by Royal River Casino and Hotel, the Stampede will face off against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. On Sunday, during the Taylor Swift Celebration Night presented by Vern Eide, they will take on the Tri-City Storm.

The Stampede enter this weekend on a four-game winning streak after sweeping last weekend's first three-in-three of the season. They opened the stretch with a 5-3 win over the Sioux City Musketeers, featuring goals from five different players, including enforcer Thomas Holtby, who notched his first of the season.

The Herd kept up the production all weekend. On Saturday, they tallied eight goals from eight different scorers to claim an 8-5 win over the Omaha Lancers. To wrap up the weekend, the Herd put on a show for the home crowd. After a short-handed goal from Juho Keinanen, Brent Solomon followed with a natural hat trick, and Logan Renkowski sealed the night with a power-play goal. The five-goal performance was backed by a 23-save shutout from goaltender Linards Feldbergs. The combined hat trick and shutout marked just the fifth time in franchise history that both occurred in the same game.

The impressive weekend moves the Stampede to 7-2-1-0 on the season and places them at the top of the Western Conference.

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have also had a strong start to the USHL season, entering the weekend with a 6-2-0-1 record.

Last week, the RoughRiders faced the Lancers in Omaha on Wednesday before hosting the Chicago Steel on Friday. In Omaha, they earned a 4-3 victory thanks to an early third-period goal. The Lancers struck first less than two minutes into the game, but the RoughRiders responded at 4:04 of the first period. Cedar Rapids added another before intermission to take a 2-1 lead. Omaha tied the game early in the second, and the teams traded goals before the RoughRiders' early third-period goal sealed the win.

On Friday, the RoughRiders fell to the Steel, 5-4. Chicago opened scoring at 3:05 and racked up 21 penalty minutes before the halfway mark of the first period. Following a fight between Chicago's Jackson Crowder and Cedar Rapids' Lucas Siomons, the Steel added another goal to lead 2-0 at intermission. Chicago extended the lead early in the second before three unanswered goals from the RoughRiders tied the game. A late-period power-play goal gave Chicago back the lead, and both teams added one more in the third, resulting in a 5-4 final.

The RoughRiders will travel to Sioux Falls after facing off against Omaha again on Friday night.

Following Saturday's game, the Herd will take on the Tri-City Storm on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. The Storm currently sit fourth in the Western Conference with a 4-5-1-0 record.

Last weekend, the Storm picked up two road wins. On Friday in Omaha, a third-period goal lifted them to a 3-2 victory after giving up two early goals. They followed with a 4-1 win in Sioux City on Saturday night. Tri-City scored first at 4:22 of the opening period, allowed one late in the first, then added two in the second and one in the third to secure the win.

Before traveling to Sioux Falls on Sunday, the Storm will visit Lincoln on Friday night and host the Stars on Saturday.

Saturday is the Stampede's annual Military Appreciation Night, presented by Royal River Casino and Hotel. Veterans and active-duty military personnel can stop by the Stampede office at 1111 N.
