Soller Scores Hat Trick As Stampede Solve RoughRiders In 7-4 Win

CEDAR RAPIDS, I.A. — Following a learning game on Friday night, the Sioux Falls Stampede surged back on Saturday night, coming out of the gate with a five-goal first period and never looking back.

Getting started early in the first period, Stampede captain Anthony Bongo picked up a pass from Joey Macrina to get the Herd on the board just 1:41 into the game. Vojtech Švancar would continue his hot streak, picking up his eighth of the season at the 9:03 mark. Cooper Soller would add his first of the night with a power-play goal at 10:39 before tacking on his second at 13:25, this time while shorthanded. Continuing the onslaught, Max Davis netted his first USHL goal on the man advantage at 16:32, it would stand to be the game-winner. with 1:16 remaining in the opening frame, Braiden Scuderi would get the RoughRiders on the board and shift some momentum heading into the second period.

Ethan Sung would pull things back for the Herd at 7:05 with his first of the season, with Matteo Alvarez picking up his first USHL assist and Michael Bonkov adding his first USHL point. With his parents in the building, Cedar Rapids forward Henry Lechner would pick up the home team's second of the night at 11:09 before Lucas Siomos added on a third for the RoughRiders at 15:22 with a power-play tally.

The third period would see Cooper Soller complete the hat trick 4:39 into the period to give the Herd its seventh of the night on a rush with Pavel Martinu, seconds after the latter exited the penalty box. Liam Fournier would add the fourth and final of the night for Cedar Rapids on the power play, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome the first-period deficit the home team suffered.

In his first game against his former team, Stampede netminder Ryan Cameron picked up the win, with 28 saves on 32 shots. For the RoughRiders, Joseph Skidmore would come in as relief, stopping 19-of-21 as Ethan Phillips stopped 10-of-15 Stampede shots in the loss.
