SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — After a promising start, Friday night went Fargo's way as the Stampede drop their third game, 3-2, for a 4-3-0-0 record on the season.
Anthony Bongo opened the scoring for the Herd late in the first period, firing up the bench with his first of the year on the power play. Unfortunately, the Fargo's Bryce Mattern would pull things even for the visitors at the 17:29 mark.
Just 4:32 into the middle frame, Danny Hussa picked up his first USHL goal for the Force to give Fargo their first lead of the night, one they would not concede. Midway through the period, at 10:05, Wilson Boumedienne added his first goal in the USHL, putting Fargo up 3-1.
The third period would see the Stampede push back, with Vojtech Švancar collecting a puck from
Ryland Rooney and popping the puck right over the shoulder of Force netminder Samuel Hrenak 1:16 into the final 20. It wouldn't give the Herd enough of a rise, however, with Hrenak showing up and showing out, making 40 saves on 40 shots.
For the Stampede,
Ivans Kufterins saw his second USHL start, stopping 18-of-21 in the home net.
The Sioux Falls Stampede take on the Force in Fargo tomorrow night, October 10, at 7:05 PM CT and return home on Monday, October 12, to take on the Lincoln Stars for Dollar Dog Night, thanks to Fareway Meat and Grocery. Doors open at 6 PM CT. Get your tickets now!
