Stampede Names Craig Doremus as Director of Player Development

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Sioux Falls Stampede announced today the hiring of Craig Doremus as the organization's Director of Player Development.

A native of Maspeth, N.Y., Doremus brings more than two decades of coaching and personnel experience at the junior hockey level. He began his coaching career behind the bench for the Metro Fighting Moose (MET) and New York Bobcats (EHL), guiding those teams to four national tournament appearances and three CHA championships.

Doremus went on to serve as Head Coach and General Manager of the New Jersey Titans in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), where he was named 2019-20 NAHL East General Manager of the Year. Under his leadership, the Titans qualified for the postseason in all eight of his seasons and won the NAHL Robertson Cup championship in 2022.

He has also served as Director of Player Personnel for the Rochester Jr. Americans (NAHL) and Hockey Director for the Long Island Gulls. Doremus currently serves as General Manager of the Woodbridge Wolfpack and is the founder of the Essentials Development Academy, an initiative providing aspiring players with a comprehensive environment for hockey development, education, and personal growth.

"His experience in player development and his deep knowledge of the player pool across the country make him a tremendous addition to our staff. Craig will work directly with our current players and draft selections to help ease their transition to junior hockey and to uphold the standard we've built here in Sioux Falls."
Craig resides in Middle Village, N.Y., with his wife, Andrea, and their two sons, Griffin and Boden.

The Stampede opened 2026-27 training camp this week and will host an inter-squad scrimmage at BVHA (Brandon Valley) Indoor Arena on Tuesday, September 1 at 6:30 p.m., before traveling to Fargo to face the Force at Farmer's Union Arena at 6 p.m. The Stampede return home for their lone home preseason game against Fargo on Saturday, September 5 at Midco Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m.
