Stampede Acquire Brock Schultz from Waterloo Black Hawks

Sioux Falls, S.D. — The Sioux Falls Stampede announced Wednesday that they have acquired forward Brock Schultz from the Waterloo Black Hawks in exchange for the rights to goaltender Michael Chambre.

The 2005-born forward joins Sioux Falls with 93 games of United States Hockey League (USHL) experience. Last season, Schultz tallied 26 points (10g, 16a) in 62 games with the Black Hawks, adding five points in six playoff appearances. Through 12 games this season, the East Grand Forks, Minn., native has recorded four points. He also served as captain for Waterloo this year, demonstrating strong leadership both on and off the ice.

Head Coach Ryan Cruthers spoke about the front-end addition:

"Brock is a player we identified last year in the playoffs who fits our culture and plays our brand of hockey. He is a hardworking, 200-foot player who will enhance our team on both sides of the puck. He's a natural leader with league experience that we feel will strongly strengthen our culture."

Schultz will be available to play this weekend. He will wear No. 20 before eventually switching to No. 28.

In an additional move, the Stampede have released defenseman Gennadi Chaly due to visa issues. The organization wishes Chaly all the best as he moves forward in his career.

Schultz and the Herd will hit the road to take on the Youngstown Phantoms in a two-game series this weekend.
