Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Sioux Falls Stampede announced today that they have acquired defenseman Erik Kald from the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders.  
 
The Oyster Bay, N.Y., native played 48 games for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders last season, netting six goals and ten assists. Prior to being with the RoughRiders, Kald played for the Long Island Gulls alongside Stampede forward Ethan Wyttenbach. The 6-foot-3, 198-pound defenseman is known for his heavy shot and his ability to find space in the slot. The Merrimack College commit will wear #5 with Stampede. 
 
"Erik is a defenseman that we looked at for a long time", stated Stampede General Manager Tony Gasparini. "Our staff went through his play last year and think he has the ability to be a top player for us at the end of this season once recovered from injury and next season. He has the size and ability to impact in a lot of different areas of the game.  We could not be more excited to have him a part of the organization." 
 
The acquisition of Kald completes the trade with Cedar Rapids for John McNeils. Sioux Falls also sent defenseman Hawke Huff to the RoughRiders as well as a 2025 Phase I 3rd round draft pick and a 2025 Phase II 6th round draft pick. 
 
The Herd will take on the league leading Stars in Lincoln on Friday before traveling back to Sioux Falls to take on the Stars for the Stampede's annual Pink in the Rink Night.
