Men's Ice Hockey Stampede

Herd Host Storm in Home Opener Matchup

Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Sioux Falls Stampede will open their 2025-26 home schedule on Saturday against the Tri-City Storm following a Friday night matchup in Sioux City. Puck drop is set for 6:05 p.m. at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

Though it's still early in the season, the Stampede are riding a two-game win streak following a Friday night victory in Lincoln. A three-power-play-goal performance powered Sioux Falls to a 4-2 win over the Stars. Forward Juho Keinanen opened the scoring with his first USHL goal, while veterans Logan Renkowski, Joe McGraw, and Brent Solomon also found the back of the net. Goaltender Linards Feldbergs earned his second win of the season with another 23-save effort. He currently holds a .920 save percentage and a 1.92 goals-against average. The win ties the Herd with the Fargo Force for first place in the standings.

The Sioux City Musketeers enter the weekend with three points and a 1-1-1-0 record after earning an overtime win over the Tri-City Storm last Saturday. In their lone game of the weekend, Sioux City traveled to Kearney, Neb., where they surrendered three third-period goals before forcing overtime. After a scoreless first frame, the Musketeers struck twice—once at even strength and once on the power play—to take a 2-0 lead. The Storm responded with three in the third period, but a late Musketeers tally forced overtime, where Sioux City notched its first victory of the season just two minutes into the extra frame.

Last season, the I-29 rivals met nine times, with the Stampede taking the season series 7-2. Their most recent matchup came on March 8, when Sioux Falls earned a 2-1 road win.

On Saturday night, the Stampede will host the Tri-City Storm for their 2025 Home Opener. Festivities begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Birdcage, featuring inflatables and lawn games from Bounce Around. South Dakota Aerial Arts will perform, while Millennium Recycling will showcase their BINfluencer educational trailer. PREMIER Center doors open at 4:45 p.m., and the first 1,000 kids with valid game tickets will receive a free replica jersey courtesy of First PREMIER Bank and PREMIER Bankcard. Fans can also enjoy face-painting, a photo booth, and new merchandise on the concourse. A special full-team introduction will take place before puck drop. During the first intermission, the Stampede will unveil details for an upcoming theme night on Wednesday, November 26. Chuck-A-Puck will be held during the second intermission, and fans are encouraged to download the Stampede app to participate in in-game contests and win prizes. Following the game, fans who brought skates can join the Herd on the ice and those who did not have the opportunity to get autographs in the lobby.

The Tri-City Storm went 1-0-1-0 last weekend, improving their record to 1-2-1-0. On Friday night, they hosted the Omaha Lancers and broke through with a dominant 6-2 victory behind back-to-back three-goal periods. After opening the scoring at 8:34 of the first period, Tri-City added two more for a 3-0 advantage. They struck twice more before Omaha netted its first goal late in the second, but the Storm quickly answered with another tally. The Lancers added a third-period goal, but it wasn't enough to slow Tri-City's first win of the season.

Sioux Falls claimed last year's season series against the Storm, 4-2, including a decisive 5-1 win on February 22 at the PREMIER Center.

Next weekend, the Stampede will face the Omaha Lancers in a home-and-home series beginning Friday night at the PREMIER Center with Nostalgia Night, presented by Rocket Fizz.
