OMAHA, NEB.— The Sioux Falls Stampede came from behind to take home two points in USHL standings after a 4-3 overtime win in Omaha against the Lancers.
Jaksen Panzer,
Will McDonough,
Jake Toll, and
Chris Pelosi tallied goals while
Michael Chambre added another win to his record.
Panzer started the scoring off strong 7:01 into the game, putting the Stampede up by one with assists from
Gennadi Chaly and
Alex Rybakov. The Lancers answered back with 3:02 to play in the period, tying the game up at one each. The Stampede had two powerplay opportunities in the first period, but the team was unable to take the advantage to the net.
The Lancers were able to pull ahead of the Stampede 7:35 into the second period and held that lead for most of the frame. With just three seconds left,
Will McDonough found the net to tie the game at two goals per team.
Gennadi Chaly marked his second assist of the night with McDonough's goal.
Omaha was able to get their lead back just under seven minutes into the final regulation frame. Yet again, the Stampede came back to tie the game when
Jake Toll earned his second goal of his USHL career, assisted by
JJ Wiebusch and
Hayden Reid. Regulation play ended with the score tied up at three goals each.
Finally, 45 seconds into the overtime, three-on-three period
Chris Pelosi, assisted by Kaz Sobieski, found the back of Omaha's net to pull out the win and continue Omaha's winless streak.
Michael Chambre found the win between the pipes for the Herd. Chambre was able to stop 18-of-21 shots on his net with a 2.96 GAA. Making 85.7 percent of saves, Chambre is now 3-0-1 this season and has a USHL career total of 10 wins, 12 losses and one overtime loss.
The Herd now comes back to the Denny on Sunday afternoon to host the Sioux City Musketeers for the team's annual Halloween tilt. Doors for the game open at 3 p.m. with puck drop scheduled for 4:05 p.m. Prior to the game, there will be tables throughout the concourse for trick-or-treating and a costume contest.
