SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—The Sioux Falls Stampede announced today they have acquired forward JJ Wiebusch in exchange for defenseman Zack Sharp.
The River Falls, Wisconsin native began his first season in the United States Hockey League with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. During the past 28 games, Wiebusch has tallied three goals and 13 assists for 16 points and a minus six rating. He was a 7
th round selection in the USHL Phase II Draft by Cedar Rapids during the 2022 draft last May.
Prior to this season with Cedar Rapids, Wiebusch played with the Janesville Jets, Team Wisconsin 18U, and Edgewood High School during the 2021-22 season. During this season he combined to tallied 49 goals and 68 assists for 117 points.
The 6-foot, 161-pound, right-winger has already committed to play collegiate hockey at Merrimack College.
Wiebusch is expected to don the blue and gold beginning Friday against the Lincoln Stars. The Stampede and Stars play a home-and-home series this weekend that starts with "We Hate Winter Night" at 7:05 p.m. the Denny Sanford Premier Center on Friday.
