SIOUX FALLS, S.D.— The Sioux Falls Stampede defeated the Omaha Lancers, 5-3, during Stomp's Birthday Bash.
Jaksen Panzer led the Herd with two goals while
Chase LaPinta,
Hunter Anderson and
JJ Wiebusch all added goals to the team's win.
Christian Manz earned the win between the pipes with 29 saves.
Chase LaPinta got the Herd going with a goal just two minutes into the game, assisted by
Will McDonough. The Lancers were able to tie the game up at one goal with Charlie Lieberman's tally halfway through the period. The score would stand for the remaining nine minutes and would head to the intermission tied.
Hunter Anderson followed a similar script, scoring just three minutes into the period, helped by McDonough and
Joe Belisle. Omaha answered back to end the period with another tie, this time with each goal marking two goals.
The Lancers were able to pull ahead during a powerplay opportunity, making it 3-2 in favor of the Lancers.
Jaksen Panzer was able to get the game back to a 3-3 tie at the halfway point of the period, giving the Stampede a bit of a spark for the rest of the period. Marking the game-winning goal,
JJ Wiebusch found the back of the net from
Chris Pelosi at the 16:14 point in the period. Finally, Panzer grabbed his second goal of the night, securing the win for the team, unassisted.
Christian Manz earned his 11
th win of the season, now marking an 11-11-1-1 record, 3-2 in a Stampede jersey. He was able to stop 29-of-32 pucks from entering the Herd's net, marking a .906 save percentage. He also tabbed a 3.00 goals-against average. Manz now holds a season GAA of 4.48 and save percentage of .877.
