Herd season ends with Game 3 loss in Kearney

KEARNEY, NEB.— The Sioux Falls Stampede has ended its 2023-2024 campaign with an 8-3 loss to the Tri-City Storm in game three of the first round of the Clark Cup Playoffs. The team ends its season 29-29-6-1 with a win and two losses coming from round one of playoffs. Hunter Anderson led the Herd with two of the Herd's three goals.

Tri-City put three goals on the Herd before the halfway point in the first period. Hunter Anderson was able to net the Herd's first goal 14:35 into the period, assisted by Zach Nehring and Noah Eyre. Tri-City would go on to net one more before the end of the period, putting the score at 4-1 in favor of Tri-City.

The Storm's Artemi Nizameyev marked his third goal of the night with 5:59 off the clock, completing the hat trick. They would add one more on the powerplay before Anderson grabbed his second of the night, also on the powerplay. Owen Beckner then scored his second for the Storm and JJ Wiebusch answered back with a powerplay goal with 1:33 remaining in the period.

In the final frame, the Storm added one final nail in the coffin of the Herd's season, ending it at 8-3. Christian Manz and Michael Chambre split their time in net, allowing eight goals off 30 shots. Manz was tabbed with the loss, earning six of the goals against and marking 13 saves. Chambre stopped 9-of-11 shots and marked a 3.69 goals-against average in the 33 minutes between the pipes.
