Stampede to Face Off Against Musketeers

Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Stampede will travel down 1-29 this Saturday to take on the Sioux City Musketeers. The game is set for a 6:05 pm puck drop and will be available on FloHockey and KELO Radio. 

Both the Stampede and Musketeers enter the match-up undefeated following the Fall Classic. At the USHL Fall Classic, Sioux City faced the Dubuque Fighting Saints and  Youngstown Phantoms. On Wednesday, the Musketeers beat the Fighting Saints 5-1. On Thursday, they took down the Phantoms 2-1. 

The Stampede also went 2-0 at the USHL Fall Classic. On Saturday, they defeated the Team USA NTDP U18s 6-3. On Sunday, the Herd faced off against the Muskegon Lumberjacks and took home two points after coming from behind to force overtime. 

These two teams faced off in a preseason match up on September 7th at the Tyson Event Center. The Stampede took down the Musketeers 8-3 in the penalty-ridden game. The Herd scored half their goals in the first period with Ethan Wyttenbach, Hunter Anderson, and Brock James all scoring. Sioux Falls also dominated the second period, scoring three more goals thanks to Gennadi Chaly, Ethan Wyttenbach, and Noah Urness. At 12:16 of the second period, the first scrum of the night broke out and a total of 42 penalty minutes were handed out. Only 15 seconds later, the teams went back at it and another fight broke out before the end of the period. Three more scrums occurred in the third period and  a total of 246 penalty minutes were given throughout the game. The Stampede finished the 60 minutes with 103 penalty minutes while the Musketeers had 143 penalty minutes. Stampede forward John McNelis sealed the 8-3 victory with a short-handed goal. 

Following the face off in Sioux City, the Stampede will open their home schedule on Saturday, October 5th. The Home Opener Party will kick off with a pre-game tailgate. The first 1,000 kids, 14 and under,  through the door, will receive a replica Stampede jersey, The party will continue throughout the concourse with stops such as Mr. Twister, face-painting, and a scavenger hunt.
