Sioux Falls, S.D. — The Sioux Falls Stampede will continue their month-long road trip with two more games this weekend. On Friday night, they'll travel to face their I-29 rival, the Sioux City Musketeers, before heading further south to take on the Lincoln Stars.
The Stampede enter the weekend following a tough series against the Youngstown Phantoms. On Friday night, Sioux Falls fell 6–2 after several questionable on-ice calls.
Logan Renkowski and
Brent Solomon scored power-play goals to give the Herd a 2–1 lead before Youngstown responded with five unanswered goals to seal the win. The Herd were unable to bounce back on Saturday, suffering a 4–0 shutout — their first scoreless game of the season. After a rough weekend, the team worked to move past the losses and will focus ahead to this weekend's matchups as they aim to stay near the top of the Western Conference standings.
The Sioux City Musketeers currently sit sixth in the Western Conference with a 3-7-0-0 record over their last ten games. Last weekend, they were swept at home by the Dubuque Fighting Saints. After surrendering five goals in the first period on Saturday, Sioux City's late three-goal surge fell short in a 7–3 loss. Tempers flared between the two teams, resulting in 100 combined penalty minutes, including seven major penalties. The Musketeers received six of those majors, one of which was assessed as a bench minor to their head coach. As a result of the unsportsmanlike conduct, three Sioux City players and their head coach will be suspended for Friday's matchup.
The Musketeers and Stampede have met twice this season. Their first meeting came on Friday, October 3, during Sioux City's home opener, where the Herd fell 5–4 after struggling on the power play, going 0-for-6.
Brent Solomon,
Cooper Soller, and
Joey Macrina each scored in that game. In their second matchup on October 17, the Stampede claimed a 5–3 victory with five different players finding the back of the net. Sioux Falls will look to take the upper hand in the season series with another win on Friday night.
After a slow start to the 2025–26 season, the Lincoln Stars have found their rhythm. They currently sit fourth in the Western Conference with an 8-8-0-0 record and are 8-2-0-0 in their last ten games. The Stars swept the Fargo Force last weekend to extend their winning streak to three games. On Friday night, former Stampede goaltender Charles Menard posted a shutout in a 3–0 win. Fargo took a 3–1 lead into the second intermission on Saturday, but a six-goal third period by Lincoln propelled them to a 7–4 victory.
The Stampede and Stars have met once so far this season, back on September 21 in their first game out of the Fall Classic. Sioux Falls earned a 4–2 win with goals from
Juho Keinanen,
Logan Renkowski,
Joe McGraw, and
Brent Solomon. Goaltender
Linards Feldbergs also impressed with a 23-save performance.
Sioux Falls will look for a productive weekend to remain near the top of the Western Conference standings.
Following this weekend, the Stampede will continue their road trip with a two-game series in Chicago before returning to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on November 26 for the Inaugural Corgi Races, presented by Tito's Vodka for Dog People. That night, the team will also host a Pet Food and Enrichment Drive to benefit the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.
