SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — After a weekend sweep for the Herd, starting goaltender
Linards Feldbergs has been named USHL Goaltender of the Week after allowing only four goals.
The Ogre, Latvia, native improved to a 9-4-1-0 record after helping the Herd secure two big wins. On Friday, Feldbergs made 29 saves, including 12 of 13 in the third period, to backstop the Stampede's 3-2 victory over the Musketeers. Late in the game, he came up with several key stops—highlighted by a blocker save made without his stick—to preserve the one-goal win. He followed that performance with 21 saves in Lincoln on Saturday.
The 2005-born goaltender has made an impressive entrance into the USHL, having already recorded a shutout on October 19. He now holds a 2.34 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage, proving himself to be the Herd's starting goaltender.
Feldbergs and the Stampede will travel to Chicago this weekend to take on the Chicago Steel. They will return to the PREMIER Center on November 26th for the Stampede's Inaugural Corgi Races presented by Tito's Vodka for Dog People.
