Stampede to Face Off in Matinee Games

Sioux Falls, S.D. -  The Sioux Falls Stampede will play two matinee games this weekend. On Saturday, the team will travel to Des Moines, I.A., for a 4:00 pm game against the Buccaneers. Then, the Stampede will return to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center to face off at 4:05 pm against the Omaha Lancers.

The Stampede enter this weekend off a three-week homestand where they earned three wins and two losses. Last weekend, Sioux Falls hosted the Tri-City Storm for two games. On Friday night, the Stampede earned a season-high seven goals in their 7-5 win over the Storm. Newcomers Jake Merens and Ben Wilmott tallied goals while defenseman Gennadi Chaly earned three points on the night. The Stampede failed to lead until Chaly scored the eventual game-winning goal. John McNelis sealed the team's win with an empty-net shot. On Saturday night, the Stampede did not get on the board until the third period. Late goals by Ethan Wyttenbach and Brock James kept the group in it but an empty-net goal from the Storm finalized the 3-2 loss for the Stampede.

On Sunday, October 20th, the Des Moines Buccaneers earned their second win, of the season, against the Chicago Steel. The Steel earned three goals in the first period and headed into the first intermission with a 3-2 lead. With a goal at 15:10 of the third period, the Buccaneers' Brittan Alstead earned his first goal of the season to give the Buccaneers the win.

The Stampede and Buccaneers last played on February 24th of this year. The Buccaneers took a 5-2 win at their home rink. Last season, Sioux Falls and Des Moines split the season series with both teams earning a home and away win in their four-game season series. The two teams will play for the first time this season on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Stampede will wrap up a stretch of six home games in October. They will host the Omaha Lancers for the first time this season. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used coats for the Stampede's annual Coat Drive presented by Vern Eide. Those who donate will receive a ticket voucher for two tickets to select November games. In the first intermission, select fans will face off on a hockey edition of Tic Tac Toe and during the second intermission Vern Eide will be showing off a 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Hybrid on the ice! Fans will be able to skate with the Herd following Sunday's game, so bring your skates and grab some autographs post-game. If you are unable to skate, Culver's Autograph Alley will return in the lobby following the game.

The Lancers come to Sioux Falls on a four-game win streak after starting the season on a four-game losing streak. Last weekend, the Lancers swept two Eastern Conference teams, the Dubuque Fighting Saints and the Cedar Rapids Roughriders. On Friday night, the Lancers shut out the Fighting Saints 5-0. The Lancer's took home the weekend sweep on Saturday in a 4-1 against the Roughriders. Omaha will take on the Fargo Force, at home, on Friday and Saturday before traveling to Sioux Falls on Sunday.

The Lancers and Stampede faced off in a home-and-home series in March of last season. They split the series with both teams taking the home win. Throughout last season, the Stampede beat the Lancers four times and only fell to them twice.
Following their Sunday game against the Lancers the Stampede do not return to the PREMIER Center until November 12th, where they will host the Sioux City Musketeers for the first time this season. On Saturday, November 16th, the Stampede will host their annual Military Night. The first 1,000 fans through the door will receive a Camo Stampede hat thanks to Royal River Hotel and Casino. Tickets for those games are available for purchase by clicking here. For more ticket options, call the Stampede at 605.275.4625.
